shoe

Make do and mend a common theme of the recession nowadays brings back a really funny memory of when I was 17 and purchased some soft shoes whilst on holiday in Malta. I wore them for my job in the City whilst working at Stockbrokers Laurence Prust and Co. That was fine until one day we had some really torrential rain. Usual for London, but not Malta, the soles began to collapse and big holes appeared in them. My feet were wet through. My manager at the time Peter Howard an ex tank commander during the war, used some card board to cut out some soles and put them in my shoes. Everyone in the office roared with laughter, but they got me home. A great memory and a thoroughly modern thing to do!
