Just wanted to say thanks for the orthotics you did for Mum, Iris, last year. Since wearing them her balance has improved tenfold, she no longer leans to the left when walking, her stride is better & she is more sure footed & upright. So important as Mum has Parkinson’s & is blind in her left eye. Thank you for the 2nd set of orthotics & your honesty that Mum did not need another assessment, the 2nd set is so that Mum can have 2 sets of shoes ready to go instead of needing to change from one shoe to another, personal choice.
I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for the professional, personable way in which you addressed Mum’s foot requirements. Having seen Mum at a Parkinson’s Caring Day you found that she was walking on the inside of her feet so that only her bunion & part of heel was touching the ground, this had gone unobserved by the family, we knew Mum walked diagonally instead of a straight line but had put that down to her failing sight & Parkinson’s. I was impressed that having assessed Mum, you advised her to talk to her family, so no hard sell, that we could then speak with you so that all Mum’s needs were clarified with no expectation of us taking up your services. We agreed that orthotics would be beneficial & after a quick re-assessment for her inserts, which you again explained clearly to Mum & I including how to wear them once they arrived, what Mum could expect and that she needed to wear them gradually during the day until she had become accustomed to her new posture & walking stance. They arrived when you said & after ensuring Mum was happy with them off she went & she has not looked back. Her posture is now upright, at 84 years old it could have been easy to say her stoop was naturally, which of course it was not nor necessary. Her breathing is easier, even with a heart condition & she feels better in herself, more confident with walking even with diminishing eye sight & Parkinson’s. I have since recommended you to friends in the area especially those of a nervous disposition as your friendly, professional approach & explanations of all that you are doing quickly puts people at ease.
Once again, thank you very much for your presentation on Podiatry vs Tai Chi given to our St Albans and District Hospital Diabetes support group. The general feeling of the meeting was ‘excellent’ for your presentation.
I am writing on behalf of Parkinson’s UK, Welwyn Hatfield Branch, to thank you for taking part in our therapy day yesterday. I heard nothing but praise from our members for which ever treatment they had had. I only hope that you were able to derive something from the day too.
I have been meaning to email for sometime, but unfortunately due to being busy at work and with training, it has proven a tricky task. I wanted to thank you for your help, as since I have been running with the orthotics, everything seems to be be going well. I wear the orthotics for my long steady and slow runs. The only time I don’t wear them is when I’m doing speed work; as naturally how I land changes (I run more on my toes). Being injury free has enabled me to push on with my training, getting to an even higher standard and competing at a level that seemed very far away whilst injured.
Dear Gary, thank you for seeing me this morning and giving me a reassuring check up after twisting my ankle.
I would like to say how pleased I have been with the excellent orthotics I purchased from you some five years ago and considering the use they have had, how well they have performed. I have just removed the original foam covering to have new fitted and was amazed, that even after that time the foam was very securely bonded.
On behalf of everyone at Garden House, I would like to thank you very much for donating your talk fee of £25 towards Hospice funds.
This thoughtful gift will help us to ensure that the doors of the hospice remain open, providing specialist services to those patients and their families who may need our help in the months ahead.
With thanks, once again for your continued support.
I wish to thank Gary and Janet for putting me on the right road to exercise for arthritis, diagnosed in my spine and both hips. About 3 years ago I started going to Gary for chiropody (he is excellent, I feel like I am walking on air when I come out) and just in conversation I told him how much pain I was in. Although, he had noticed that I was increasingly walking with a “stoop”, which I hadn’t realised, and he told me about the benefits of gentle exercise and very kindly showed me some simple but effective movements. He advised me to start off with 10 – 20 minutes a day exercise and increase this slowly to 30 minutes a day, this was 2 years ago and I still do 30 minutes a day of the same exercises and I can’t believe the difference this has made to my life. I no longer walk with a stoop but walk upright and at 67 years of age I have some of my old agility back, so to Gary and Janet my heartfelt gratitude.
I enjoy learning about the art of Tai Chi, and the many ways it can be used to help me improve my breathing, balance and posture. Each exercise is carefully explained and demonstrated. Each Student is encouraged to progress at his or her own pace. Hard work and exercise is fun! So much to learn but with the right encouragement, I am learning to exercise the body, focus the mind and enjoy Tai Chi.
